This accident reconstruction training class is a 40 hour course. It covers the investigation of collisions involving semi-tractor trailers, recreational vehicles, truck and trailer combinations, and other heavy equipment. Prerequisite to attend the course is Advanced Technical Collision Investigation - Level II. The course will discuss:
- Commercial vehicle types
- Part nomenclature of trucks and trailers
- Air brake systems
- Federal Motor Carrier regulation
- Brake force calculation for air brake systems
- Center of mass calculation of articulated vehicles
- Coupling devices
- Introduction to engine control modules and other electronic data contained in commercial vehicles
- Collision dynamics and energy calculations
