automobile vs pedestrian reconstructions

Description

This accident reconstruction training course is a 40 hour course designed for those who have completed Level I and II.

This course will provide information to students regarding reconstruction of collisions involving vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles.  Included in this course are the following topics:

  • Formulas for speed estimates from pedestrian vaulting, fall to ground and slide to rest, or roll and slide to rest locations
  • Applications of scale diagramming and laser mapping of collision scenes
  • Time and distance analysis as it relates to pedestrian and vehicular motion
  • Vehicle damage analysis and its use in determining collision movements and forces
  • Study of injury analysis and pedestrian kinematics with respect to vehicle frontal geometries
  • Algebraic and mathematical hierarchies

In addition to the listed topics, weather permitting, one day will be devoted to live crash testing where attendees will apply covered topics investigating staged collisions using an anthropomorphic dummy.  All crash tests will be documented with video and photography which will be provided to all attendees at the conclusion of the course.
